Our ActivitiesOpen Sky School The journey of EKMATTRA has been initiated through ‘Open Sky School’ in various spots of Dhaka City to provide informal pre-primary education to the street children. Now it is centrally coordinated from the Mirpur Shah Ali’s Shrine area in Dhaka. The children are taught the basic life skills, elementary education, behavioral norms etc. Moreover, the best performing children from the Open Sky Schools are selected to enter the Shelter Home ‘Ananda’ for a better socialized life. The basic idea of open sky School is to teach the basic lifestyle skills to the street dwelling children and Ananda shelter home ensures to provide a normal childhood to the concerned children. Open sky School is also the biggest area of research for EKMATTRA. All the participant children come under an extensive profiling which dictates the progress. Open sky Schools are run by qualified and experienced teachers. Moreover, volunteers are encouraged to participate in the proceedings. In field experience of conducting open sky school is a determining factor to becoming an active member or volunteer of EKMATTRA. EKMATTRA is designing a concrete project for its Open Sky Schools. We are soon approaching to the international and national development partners with our plan. We strongly believe that we will bring exceptional changes which enrich the livelihood of a child in the street.
