About Us

History

It was the year of 2003. We, Some young university students came to the touch of street children and passed time with them. We tried to read them and to fell their grief, miseries and the uncertain future. We realized the inner potentialities of them are at the brink of misuse and abuse. A sensibility arose upon us. We felt a quick urge to do something effective for them.

We have come to the realization that those street children being deprived of basic needs and privileges what they deserve as social being are going to grasp a dark world to survive them. Having no alternative to have a decent life, they are involving themselves in many criminal activities or become a victim of the gangs. This is the destiny of these destitute children. Existing social injustice and discrimination and the increasing national and natural disaster force them to sustain but as there is no way to sustain fairly, they are bound to grasp any unfair way to live.

We were urged to do something for the betterment of these destitute children. We, the few young and energetic entrepreneurs thought and planned to do something effective for them. We started to plan and trying to communicate with other who can support and contribute to materialize our dream.

Finally we started with great enthusiasm to take initiatives to form the today's EKMATTRA. We organized meeting among us, expressing our views, thoughts and plans. The different spots of the University of Dhaka were the venue of our meeting and discussions. We started with teaching children in Osmany Park of Gulistan, Dhaka. That beginning never ends further. We took our first office in Paikpara, Mirpur 1 of Dhaka after one year's hard work in the field with our open-sky classes. We have a very limited number of children with us and we started taking the best care of them. We changed our address with the expansion of our activities and our philosophy remains same as it is to remove discrimination within the society.

Philosophy & Work

Children are the future of the country. Unfortunately they are neglected from the attention they deserve from us. The situation is worse in the case of the underprivileged children living on the street. Our philosophy is our work for them and bring them a positive change in their life. Open Sky Class (OSC), shelter home and the ongoing process of EKMATTRA Academy are exactly the key variables to express our philosophy because we want to eradicate the vulnerability of the street children. All these three projects are educating and training the children to nurture them as a perfect, motivated and self sufficient human being. We also want to aware the people from the privileged background about the plight of the underprivileged and grow the sense of responsibility towards the later.
Agriculture is the heart of all professions in Bangladesh. Farmers are the most important section of the agro based Bangladesh. Due to the lack of proper knowledge and guidance the farmers fail to harvest the maximum. As a result they are forced to migrate from rural to urban areas in search of employment. EKMATTRA wants to work in agriculture, to educate and guide them for getting the maximum output and create opportunities in the rural area. We want to introduce the modern technologies for better cultivation, restrain the mediator from taking the advantage and take such steps to bring down changes for good. It will reshape the uneven displacement of people from rural to urban areas and also elevate the status of farmers systematically.

EKMATTRA itself has the established by hardworking and energetic group of young people. At this stage of our venture, we find the youth to be one of the most vulnerable sections of the society. Lack of proper education and lack of employment opportunities have made them frustrated. EKMATTRA arrange workshops and training facilities to help the young generation build their own career. On the other hand there are many young people who want to do something for the society but unable to locate a platform to do so. EKMATTRA wants to become the platform for them where they can share their ideas for positive and sustainable social development. We encourage the young generation to link their innovative vision with the development of Bangladesh.
